Here is a pic I took. It came out well (the rest were shyte!! ) You can see where a wire has come off, it has kind of take a bit of the track with it. The black wire is earth so a key one. It is very short, I am gonna see if I can lenghten it and then touch it to where there it should be and see if the display lights up.

hMMM JUST REALISED THAT black wire is the FM ariel not the earth - I had wondered why there was no corresponding red power wire.
Anyhow I also had a loook at the out put form the transformer and it seems to be 0V however I think that maybe because it is AC and I used a DC voltmeter setting.
So I will look at that again.
I was puzzled by how it connected to the circuit board as it seemed to go through a capacitor (where it says C5) which owuld not work for power, but would be OK for a signal.

Yes I doubt I will be able to fix it but was curious what the problem was, I only got it a few weeks ago, it is OK, it is digital and you can store stations (if you can figure out how to operate it). Just realised I still have the box for it so I will try for a refund, but I don't have a receipt, (obviously you don't keep grocery reciptess) but it does say SAINSBURYS on the box!! I have another broken one, which has power but crap reception and buttons, I might see if I can use the power supply form that to get it going or whatever ( I think it might be the power supply as it is totally dead). Hardly worth the trouble for £7 tho, just doing it out of interest really. Just have to make sure I do not nearly electrocute myself again!!

The alarm should be an app, it is on mine, havea look for an app saying alarm!! Or go to the google play store. I use one called "My Alarm Clock Free". Download and install it for free! This one play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apalon.myclockfree&hl=en_GBIt is good, make a nice clock, also has weather displayed.

I am having some problem with my phone since it upgraded to the lasted version of android operating system (marshmallow) I can;t connect it to my PC to access stuff. Also the storage is full and it can't use the storage card I added to it now as it used to, seems they made some changed for commercial reasons. Not sure I understand it, I can format so it can use it but then I can't take the card out and use it else where. Anyhow I am trying to fix it now, I have formatted it as internal storage and it is moving some stuff across to it. I now have more storage space.. Also think I have fixed the problem, now I can now connect it to the PC via USB, I did a few things, I think this helped, but not sure exactly what worked, but it seems to work OK now. It did not seem to give me the option to use MTP (Media Transfer Protocol?) before but it does now! I have been trying to put an app on it to watch football and sports free, I have a great one on my tablet and I can watch SKY sports free on it I am looking for similar for the phone but not found a good one yet.

When I connected it to my PC via USB if didn't seem like I could access the contents of the phones memory, however what you have to do is drag a finger down from the top and one of the notification says "USB... touch for more option" So you tap that and select the option to access Tranfers File, the default is charging only which is why I could not access the files. So I am OK with it now I understand that, I don't use the phone a whole lot really, if I am in the house and not on my PC, ie on the bog for example I use my tablet, it is quite handy if I am watching something on TV and need to go to the loo, I watch TV on the tablet via an app for all he normal freeview channels. Plus I have another app, that gets a lot of the pay channels for free, is Sky Sports and movies etc... Also there is a way to cast what is on the tablet of phone to a normal TV and watch on the big screen. I have not tried that though, you need to get some sort of dong le to plug into the TV to make it work (unless your TV has an inbuilt ChromeCast capability. Something like this, it's only £11.50 I have been meaning to get one but though I just better read a bit more first to make sure it is the right one, I think it is, indeed I might order one right now. I you look in the setting - display there is "cast" option, I think you just press that and it will display your phones screen on your TV if you have the Chromecast dongle. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALLCAST-MEDIA-PLAYER-TV-STICK-GOOGLE-CHROMECAST-DONGLE-PUSH-CHROME-CAST-MAC-USB-/121947923318?hash=item1c64a9a376:g:CuwAAOSwh-1W6SAW
