Maths Fun!!!
Well maybe for some.
e^ipi+1=0
^ means to the power of.
where p is pi ie 3.142
e is e ie 2.71828
The two most most important apparently unrelated numbers in maths
i is an imaginary number the square root of -1.
It can also be written as
e^(0+ipi) -1 =0
Where 0 is the real part of the number and pi (ipi) is the imaginary part.
Any number to the power of 0 is 1 so e^0 =1
Now imaginary growth is perpendicular not parallel.
So you move from 1 in a circular direction a distance of pi, or half a circle which take the 1 to -1
So you get
e^ipi+1=0
Or
-1 +1 = 0.
I only figured this out a hour ago!!
Well sort of, I was always puzzled about it a bit.
I realise this will not be of any interest to more normal people but I quite like some maths.
The equation is know as Euler's equation, Euler is most certainly the best mathematician ever.
It is said that all mathematical formulas are named after the next person after Euler to discover them.
He had poor eye sight and eventually went blind but he continued to produce maths papers when blind!
Indeed with the help of scribes he produced maths papers faster when he was blind than when he could see.
