That kind of makes sense, you normally refer to old webs as cob webs and I think I would refer to one in use as a spiders web so I made the same distinction even though I was unaware of it!

We used to have a small shop it sold loaves called batches and bloomers. Beeroff is beer off-license. Don't think I have drinking smilie

Yea I think you can have like big ones like loafs and small ones like cobs. We used to get the bread delivered from a local small bakery, it smelt really nice is it was just baked, still warm sometimes I think. Sometime we would get a mouse or rather find a mouse but not too sure if came with the bread or if it got into the place were it was stored. On and another loaf was called a 'Tin' presumable cos it was backed in a tin!! And a bloomer They are really nice.

and theres lots to choose from these days
when I was a lad it was
tin loafs as you say
golden grain or hovis
a lot of bread these days are just full of air and not much actuall bread
I very rarly buy the mass produced stuff in a plastic bag
